St Marys University College

About St Marys University College

St Mary's University College is a suburban college situated in the Strawberry Hill, Twickenham in South West London. St. Mary's was founded in 1850 by George Stahlmann and is regarded as the oldest Roman Catholic College in UK. However, it was only in 2007, that the college was awarded the status of a University College and currently offers its own degrees. It had an association with the University of London, however, in 1979 it ended and St. Mary's formed a partnership with the University of Surrey from 1980.

Mary's offers nearly 500 degree programs including undergraduate courses varying from Pop Culture and Film to Sports Sciences. It also offers certain postgraduate, foundation, PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and some other short courses on mainly Sports Sciences. It is only short of 200 students to achieve the fully fledged University Status and is rapidly reaching its target!

The University College has its own resident halls, but as any other college, priority is given to the first year students. It is on a first come first served basis and depending on availability; the seniors could still get college accommodation. Advice is also offered on outside accommodations.

The Student Union in the J building currently, organizes many extracurricular activities. The campus also provides a cafe, refectory, a Learning Resources Centre and quite attractive sports facilities. The sports facilities include Tennis Halls, a Gymnasium, Strength and Conditioning Suite with training facilities, running tracks, a dance studio, a playing field and other extensive sporting facilities within a five minute walk.
